Canyoning
What is canyoning?
Canyoning is a water sports activity. We progress through a canyon, a stream that winds its way between sometimes narrow walls, alternating between swimming, jumping, sliding and abseiling.
As we travel through these canyons carved out by water over thousands of years in the forests of the Haut-Jura Natural Park, we are privileged witnesses to this natural environment with its magical atmosphere.
Canyoning can be enjoyed as a family or with a group of friends. There are plenty of water games to play as you progress through the canyon, so it’s an activity that children often love. Of course, jumps and underwater passages are always avoidable, which means we can supervise groups of varying levels.
Requirements
- From 7 years old;
- Knowing how to swim or not being afraid of water.
Useful information
When is the best time to go canyoning?
We offer canyoning trips from June to September, depending on the water level in the canyons and the weather. To take advantage of sunny days, we advise you to choose the summer periods (July/August) for canyoning with children.
What obstacles have you encountered?
- Jumps: always avoidable, they vary from 1 metre to around ten metres. Before you take the plunge, we'll teach you the proper techniques for balancing yourself and landing in the water - thrills guaranteed!
- The slides : Another emblematic canyoning activity, it involves letting yourself be carried along by the current to arrive in beautiful natural pools. They can all be bypassed.
- Abseiling : a rope descent technique that's easier than it looks. Sitting in the harness, we let ourselves descend gently along a vertical rope. This allows us to reach the bottom of the canyon safely or avoid a jump. Technical equipment is provided.
- Les passages sous l’eau : aussi appelés « siphons », ce sont des passages en apnée. Cela ne dure que quelques secondes, ils sont totalement évitables mais assez faciles pour les personnes à l’aise dans l’eau.
